Netnography: an emerging research method in the cybersociety of the 21st century

Abstract
This article proposes a reflection on the netnographic method as a resource to investigate issues related to information and communication technologies. The methodology in question consists of expanding the epistemological foundations of ethnography in the virtual context. The intention is to work netnography as a possible way of understanding cultural phenomena in the study of virtual communities. In summary, the article presents the argument that netnography has a potential scientific rigor for investigating questions related to the expansion of the Internet and its consequences in everyday life.
