Abstract
Reading comprehension is part of one of the linguistic skills developed by humans; deficiencies in this pillar of education lead to many negative consequences, the main one being the low level of learning on the part of the students. In this research, we sought to determine the predominant level of reading comprehension in primary level students of the Educational Institution Escuela 62500 Pueblo Joven 82 of Yurimaguas, Loreto, Peru. The research approach was quantitative, substantive, transversal, descriptive and comparative. We worked with a sample of 117 students, who completed the ACL_1-6 reading comprehension evaluation. After reviewing and grading the evaluations, it was evident that the students' reading comprehension is below normal, from a low to very low level. Furthermore, the analysis of variance with the Dun-can multiple comparisons test of averages showed significant differences between the reading comprehension levels. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to develop and execute a plan for continuous improvement of reading comprehension in primary level students of the Educational Institution School 62500 Pueblo Joven 82 of Yurimaguas.
